Bill made it to the restroom. The odor was overpowering. It made Bill feel ill and he felt like he had to hurl. The door to the restroom swung open. A portly sixty-ish man entered took a whiff of Bill's pungent odor, looked at Bill in disgust, turned, and exited the restroom. Bill was partially angered and embarrassed by the whole ordeal. He didn't want to leave the bathroom. He waited to keep the door closed so that no one else could enter. How could this happen to him. The smell had intensified. It was now like rotting flesh. He covered his nose with a damp tissue and felt himself losing it. He was about to throw up! He made a mad dash for the toilet. He almost made it. What a terrible rotten mess. Bill felt gross and disgusting. He felt lower than even his cousin Bernard. Although, unlike Bernard, Bill didn't purposely try to smell bad. But, even Bernard never smelled this bad. Bill tried to figure out why this had happened. He took good care of himself. He was a good person. He gave to charities. Would he have to go through life smelling like this? He was both pondering and dreading the possibilities when he noticed that the odor was gone. He sniffed himself several times and no odor. He smelled normal again. Once more he sniffed and he was just fine. If it hadn't been for Jenny's acknowledgement of his odor, Bill would have thought that he had gone bonkers, lost his marbles, etc. Too much work maybe. But it was quite real. When bill waked up to Jenny's desk, she looked nervous about his arrival. His cologne hit her and she was definitely shocked." What kind of miracle did you perform in the bathroom, Bossman? Some miracle cleaner-deodorizer? What?",she inquired. "I don't know. Must have been some type of body chemistry imbalance.", he responded. " That kind of smell was no imbalance and it doesn't just go away. What's going on with you bossman?", she stated. Again Bill responded, " I don't know. Let's forget about it. Let it go and get back to work. Bill walked back to his office and got back to work. When he reached a stopping point, he called Jenny into his office to pick up more paperwork and prepare it. When Jenny entered everything smelled fine. She had a very perplexed look on her face as she headed back out the door. Bill just shrugged his shoulders. Bill stayed at the office until 6:30 p.m. then he left. When Bill made it home he had a message on his machine. It was Idola. She told him about her business meeting the other day, how successful it was, how much she missed him, what she wanted to do with him and to him. He was excited and anxious thinking about her. What if that smell returned during one of their interludes? That would not be good. Not for him or Idola. How could he explain it? That could ruin the relationship. He had always prided himself on his excellent personal hygiene and grooming. He had to think positive. It wouldn't happen again. It was a fluke. Everything was going to be fine. Things just usually work out that way for him. |
